Schülke
In April 1889 two merchants met in an office in central Hamburg and signed a contract. With it Rudolf Schülke and Julius Mayr founded their company, and that same April production of their first disinfectant began. Back then hardly anyone knew what disinfection even was.
How much it can achieve became clear three years later. In the hot summer of 1892 cholera broke out in Hamburg, and according to the company history the product from Schülke & Mayr helped contain the epidemic. In 1893 the Hanseatic city said thank you with a gilded certificate of honor.
In 1961 the company laid the foundation stone for a new plant in Norderstedt near Hamburg. The employees placed a handmade casket with newspaper reports, advertisements and photos inside, and in 1976 it turned up again during construction work. Norderstedt is still Schülke's home today, and the company sums up its mission in four words, “We protect life worldwide”.
In 1972 the company set up the Rudolf Schülke Stiftung in honor of its founder, which supports research in hygiene and microbiology. In environmental protection Schülke has been audited under EMAS since 1996, and in 2023 the EcoVadis gold medal followed. In Switzerland the company is represented by Schülke & Mayr AG in Frauenfeld.
For hands and surfaces we carry from Schülke the hand disinfectant Desderman care with its matching dosing pump, Desmanol pure with panthenol and the surface disinfectant Terralin protect as a concentrate in a 2-liter container.
Use disinfectants safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
